Finding top-rate Italian cooking can be a challenge in Damascus, but La Fontana is an exception. Making up for a rather inauspicious location overlooking the Mezze highway, the restaurant serves excellent pasta dishes, including all the favourite funghis, parmiggianas and a rather tangy pollo alla brace. Service is efficient and unobtrusive and, yes, there’s ham on the menu. Alcohol served.
