When they call the rooms Crash Pads, you know you’re in seriously hip territory. A savvy computer nerd spent $6 million transforming this mouldy landmark into a bohemian palace. Simple rooms span 150 to 300 sq ft with queen bed, flat-screen TV and shower in the sage-tiled bathrooms. Work space is confined to a narrow counter, but there’s Wi Fi in the 1940s-era lounge. Sample chef David Chrystian’s dreamy food in the dining room while staring at flocked Rorshach designs, or order sushi from the raw bar till 11pm. A groovy underground space is wired for corporate events or bands, while the rooftop SkyYard is splendid for summer drinks. |
