Getting Around

Thanks to the price of fuel car is king in Abu Dhabi. Whether it’s your own, a rented model or a taxi, it is the most convenient way of getting around town. Taxis are plentiful and with fares starting at only Dhs2 and your average trip around the city costing no more than Dhs 10 it is hard to argue with. For trips outside the city, it is best to negotiate the price prior to embarking. The road network is easy to navigate and clearly signposted in both English and Arabic, although you do run the risk of hitting traffic during the rush hours. There is a public bus service but few would choose to use it given that cabs are so cheap and walking may seem like a good idea but the climate may have something to say about that. When driving remember that it is on the right, seatbelts must be worn at all times and there is a zero tolerance policy when it comes to drinking.
