Head to the Bahnhofstrasse for big brands in watches, chocolates and confectionary, and clothes. Check out Jelmoli, Globus, Manor, Migros and Coop city for products you may want to take home. For more individual buys, investigate the shops tucked away on the lanes either side of the Bahnhofstrasse.

In Niederdorf on the east bank of the Limmat river, and around the cobbled streets of the Old Town you will find plenty of smaller shops and boutiques that sell everything from handicrafts and clothes to electronics. Check out the Swiss handy-work at Schipfe, where you will find tiny shops selling goods made by the owners. You may even catch the artisans at work.

Also visit the Globus Mall opposite the Bellevue tram station next to the lake (towards Stadelhofen).

Most shops open from 8am-7pm on week-days, 8.30am–4pm on Saturdays, and are closed on Sundays (apart from the pricey Shopville at the main station). Some shops close for an hour at lunch.
