Getting Around

Ben Gurion Airport
Tel Aviv’s new Terminal 3 recently opened with a stunning new design from Moshe Safdie. The complex is roughly 12 miles from the city centre.

Taxi A taxi queue is easily located just outside the main exit point; dispatchers pair passengers with drivers for the approximately NIS80, 45 minute journey. Bus Line 222 departs to and from the airport every hour and runs NIS18. From Ben Gurion it drops passengers off in front of major hotels; they’re the pick up point for the return trip from Tel Aviv. For information call 03-6948888 Train A new train line links the airport with Tel Aviv’s Northern train station on Arlozoroff Street. The journey takes 20 minutes and runs several times per hour.

Tel Avis’ Dan and Egged bus lines crisscross nearly the entire city and are the main public transport mode until the eventual light rail system debuts in a few years. Major lines such as 4, 5, 24 and 25 link the city’s north to south; tickets run NIS5.20. Small-sized red “Sheruts” also serve the public on main bus lines for the same price. Passengers fl ag them down like taxis and are dropped

Taxis Taxis are easily found throughout the city or by reservation from major companies such as HaShekem (03-5270404) or New York (03-5237722). Fares begin at NIS 8; though surcharges are warranted for luggage when heading for the airport.
