Unlike the dreary Lijnbaan shopping centre, Witte de Withstraat further south has a selection of unique and interesting boutiques. Mark Beljon’s eponymous shop (102 Oude Binnenweg, tel: 282 7539) has three floors of furniture, exclusive fashion lines and even a hair salon. Galerie Ecce (Witte de Withstraat 17a-19a, tel: 413 9770) stocks bespoke modern furniture, paintings and prints by local artists and more portable Dutch design products. Budding DJs should head for the Ultimate Records Store (30a Schilderstraat, off Witte de Withstraat, tel: 282 7199, www.ultimate-records.com), it’s the only outlet for Ultimate DJ Gear, one of the world’s best brands for turntables and record bags. For a more sexy souvenir, head for Marlies Dekkers’ glitzy shop, opposite where she sells her signature modern lingerie.
