Airport Belgium’s national airport, Zaventem, is the closest to the city, lying 12km northeast of the capital’s centre. Connections are low-priced and quick. Cheaper flights are available via the smaller airport at Charleroi, dubbed somewhat whimsically “Brussels South”.
€10 will get you into Brussels from Charleroi by airport bus, with the journey taking around 50 minutes. A taxi ride is expensive.
Taxi At Zaventem, clear signs lead you down to the taxi rank, located at the front of the airport. Licensed taxis carry a blue and yellow emblem. The journey will cost
€30-40 and take around 20 minutes. Note that many companies offer special rates for booking a return trip or booking in advance. Your hotel will happily advise you.
Car Follow signs to the E40 and then take the Brussels exit into the city. The journey takes around 20 minutes, depending on where you are heading.
Bus Buses into the city leave from the bus station beneath the Arrivals area. To reach it, take the lifts or escalators through the Diamond Area. For further information, tel: De Lijn on 070 220 200.
Train The Airport City Express runs to Brussels from 6.00am until midnight and takes about 20 minutes. It costs €2.60 for a second-class single and €3.90 for first-class.
