The Bullring re-opened in September 2003 and has welcomed millions of shoppers through its doors since. It is the key retail centre for the city and, as well as the fl ag-ship Selfridges, is home to a large number of leading brand names. New Street in the city centre, next to the main train station, has won civic design awards for the pedestrian-friendly wide open thoroughfares and is lined with both major national and international-name stores. There are also a number of smaller arcades with smaller, independent retailers selling a bewildering array of goods. The Mailbox is the place to go for designer labels, whether that is clothing, luggage, food, kitchen equipment or electrical goods. It is also home to Harvey Nichols and just a 10-minute walk from the Bullring.
