Thierry PrévostThierry Prévost is director of the Galeries Lafayette luxury department store, which revolutionised shopping in eastern Berlin when it opened on Friedrichstrasse in the mid-90s.
Where do you live and why?
I live in Wilmersdorf. We chose this area because we wanted to be in between my two children’s schools: one is in Schmargendorf and the other in Tiergarten.
What advice would you give a tourist? Any must-dos?
Wander through Berlin’s streets admiring the architecture—especially in the refurbished areas of the eastern part of the city. And visit Galeries Lafayette, of course, for its shopping.
Where have you eaten your most memorable meals?
The Gourmet section of des Galeries Lafayette and Le Cochon Bourgeois.
Where would you take a client to wow them?
I’d take them for an evening around in Mitte.
What do you miss about Berlin when you’re away?
I miss the open spaces and the quality of life. Berlin offers all the advantages of a big city without the inconveniences.
