Getting Around

Public transport Melbourne has an integrated system of trains, trams and buses, known as the Met. A range of tickets covering three metropolitan zones can be purchased from vending machines at train stations, on trams or buses, or pre-purchased at selected shops such as newsagents. One ticket also allows you to travel on all three services(www.victrip.com.au).

Free city tram The City Circle Tram provides a free service around the city for visitors. Locals also use it to cadge a free trip. Great for getting to know the city. There's a conductor on board who tells you about the sights. Free city trams are identifiable by their 1920s-style maroon and gold livery.
