Getting Into Town

Airport Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong’s impressive and extremely efficient airport, is located on Lantau Island. Designed by Sir Norman Foster, it is probably the largest single airport building in the world.
Airport Express This rapid train is the fastest route downtown and takes just 23 minutes. The platform is easily accessible from the Arrivals Hall (just walk straight ahead). Tickets cost [00a3]7 and can be obtained from automatic dispensers or purchased from the MTR bureau located in the centre of the hall. The train stops at Tsing Yi (still on Lantau), at Kowloon on the mainland, and terminates at Hong Kong Station, located below the city’s tallest building, IFCII. Both the Central and Kowloon stations link up with the MTR. Trains run from 5.50am to 1.15am. On your departure day, it may be possible to pre check-in baggage with the airline at Kowloon or Central stations. Not all airlines offer this service, so check first.
Taxi Taking a taxi to Central costs around [00a3]23. Red taxis operate in Kowloon and Hong Kong Island, while green taxis serve the New Territories.
Limousine Limo service counters are located in the Arrivals Hall. Parklane Limousine Service Ltd can be found at A16 and B16 (Tel: 2261 0303).
Bus There are a large number of air, shuttle and overnight bus services from the airport to all regions of Hong Kong. Fares range from 28p to [00a3]3. Timetables can be found at www. hongkongairport.com.
