End each phrase, in fact anything you say, with krub if you are a man, ka if you are a woman. They are the most important politeness words in Thai—and it doesn’t matter which gender you’re addressing. Either can also mean “yes” or “I agree” or “and the same to you”. There are many ways of saying yes or no, depending on the context, so it’s best to stick with KRUB/KA for yes and mai krub/ mai ka for no. Mai can express a negative, but it’s also an important question word.
