Vancouver / Accommodation / Good Value

This luxurious four-star state-of-the-art facility is Burnaby’s pre-eminent executive hotel – with all the services and amenities you might expect from a Hilton. Among the business amenities are: audio/visual equipment rentals, a fully equipped business centre, exhibit space, and meeting rooms (up to 6300 sq.ft). Burnaby itself is central to the key cities of Vancouver’s Lower Mainland. This hotel is right across from Metrotown – British Columbia’s largest shopping and entertainment centre. Situated one block from the light rapid transit (SkyTrain) to downtown Vancouver. Close to parks and golf courses. And a mere 30 minutes from Vancouver International Airport. Ideal for busy execs travelling with wife or family.

Vancouver’s first and finest European-style bed and breakfast hotel – in the heart of downtown – was built in 1910 by the O’Hagen family and is still owned and operated by the same family. It’s close to art galleries, the library, two sports stadiums, and well-known areas such as trendy Robson Street, Theatre Row, funky Yaletown and historic Gastown. Rooms are spartan but spotless, and renovations are currently underway (expected to be completed by Summer 2004), including the installation of an elevator. In due course, the one-time bar next door (owned by the same family) will re-open, likely under the new [name] 'The Richard’s Street Pub and Restaurant’.

Minutes to the downtown business, financial and entertainment districts, the Plaza 500 Hotel and Convention Centre overlooks mountains, sea and city. And Vancouver City Hall is directly across the street. A sports bar (the Jolly Alderman) is on the ground floor, as is a reasonably good restaurant (Remington’s). If you’re a hockey fan, Vancouver Canucks pay-per- view games are broadcast in the Jolly Alderman on game nights. No gym or fitness centre on premises, but by arrangement with a well-equipped fitness centre next door, all guest have unlimited access passes. Room service runs only from 6.30am to 10pm. The entire second floor is devoted to meeting rooms. *FREE NEXT DOOR

There are so many ways to enjoy Vancouver at the Sandman Hotel: There’s world class shopping on Robson Street or the fun of exploring Stanley Park. You’ll be located just a few short blocks from movies and right in the heart of the theatre district. Dine in Moxie’s Classic Grill or the Shark Club Bar and Grill. Unwind in the health club and indoor pool. There’s a fully equipped business centre, meeting rooms, and high-speed internet access. And if you’re a sports fan, two major stadiums are within walking distance. If you’re a bookworm, the Vancouver Public Library is nearby, too. *SOUTH TOWER ROOMS ONLY
