Make no mistake, you’re here for the music. Top touring musicians stop in at Jazz Alley, usually for a week, and it’s always an intimate experience since the circular stage seems to envelop the snug seating area. Skip the food and keep the drinks simple.

Rock and roll rules at the Showbox, where up and coming touring bands seek affirmation from Seattle’s savvy music fans (this was the launch pad for local bands Nirvana and Pearl Jam). The thousand-seat auditorium was refreshed a few [year]s back and now looks as good as it sounds.

Part of the Experience Music Project, Sky Church is a stunning, soaring space with the pull to attract the best performers touring the West. The music is all over the map, not just the rock and roll of the adjacent museum. Towering video screens both attract and distract.
