Classic American diner fare will help get you through the night at this charming neighbourhood establishment. Hipster mamas, older mamas and your mama’s mama all dine here ’cause they know you can’t beat the fried chicken, the biscuits and gravy and the plump omelettes. Salvation in every bite.

Microsoft co-founder and movie buff Paul Allen sank a few of his millions into the restoration of the Cinerama, making it one of the premier movie palaces in America. It’s a single-screen gem with amazing acoustics and wonderful seating. Cell- phone chatters will be drowned out by the sound – finally!

Tucked away in the high-end Pacific Place shopping complex downtown, this movie palace is for those who abhor sticky floors and greasy popcorn. The top-floor café offers excellent salads and sandwiches and has the largest auditoriums, with wall-to- wall screens and rocking seats. The lobby level concierge fills in the blanks.

Rub elbows (and everything else) with the pretty young things that pack this club nightly. The sensuous mohair booths are great for scanning the action but not nearly as much fun as dancing to the pulsating DJ beats. A red-hot scene in a city not known for clubbing.

Frequented by local sports stars, this upscale pool hall boasts a dozen of the finest tables in town. All the action isn’t at the tables, however, since this is a meat market deluxe. Choose your game and play it for all it’s worth.
