Joseph Poon, the unofficial mayor of Chinatown, puts on a show at this Asian fusion favourite. [name]d for its owner-chef, this contemporary restaurant doesn’t serve Americanised versions of Asian food. Diners can find delicacies such as Persian- Japanese eggplant in pitta, grilled cilantro bread with foie gras and a wasabi honey soy glaze, General Tsao’s salmon and duck tacos.

This small and unassuming family-owned Chinese restaurant makes up for in flavour what it lacks in ambience. Expect to find signature dishes such as salt- baked squid, hot pots and one of the city’s best hot-and-sour soups on the menu, along with other multi-regional items. Even other local chefs find themselves unwinding at Lee How after closing up their own kitchens.

Fresh and healthy are two words that come to mind at Mustard Greens. Dishes prepared with a flair take the place of a heavy hand in the spice rack. Try the General Tso’s chicken with its light batter, or the heavenly garlic noodles. Even the eponymous vegetables come across as clean and light.

One of Philadelphia’s top restaurants, Susanna Foo has made an art of Chinese- French food. From the impeccable service to the exotic orchids and contemporary Chinese artwork that decorate the dining room, this elegant spot has certainly earned its reputation. Popular dishes include the hundred-corner crab cakes or the seven-course chef’s table dim sum served in a private room for eight to 12 guests.
