Montreal / Accommodation / Good Value

Novotel Montreal Centre is located in downtown Montreal, across the street from the Bell Centre and near the financial and commercial districts. Within walking distance are many of the city’s top restaurants and museums. The hotel’s style is modern and simple but those up for something fancier can opt for one of the executive rooms. Shoppers can head over to nearby St-Catherine and Crescent streets. Not the most glamorous hotel but certainly efficient and well-located. And the price is right.

Recently renovated, this downtown hotel boasts a sumptuous Mediterranean-style lobby and a choice of two restaurants, the Houston Steak House and the Asian eatery and sushi bar, Cité d’Asie. Unfortunately, the rooms are a bit less showy, but those up for something larger can opt for a comfort room with increased space and large bathrooms. All rooms include a coffee maker, ironing board, and free local calls. The ultimate draw for this hotel, however, is the downtown location, which offers great shopping, sight seeing and restaurant hopping.

This resort hotel overlooking Place Bonaventure has indoor access to the underground system, making it ideal for those cold winter days. From the main entrance on de la Gauchetière at Mansfield, take an elevator up to the lobby on the 17th floor. Enjoy the landscaped rooftop garden, complete with or[name]ntal ponds, bonsai plants, wildfowl and shady copses, before heading up to the deluxe guest rooms. Executive-floor rooms offer extended amenities and private lounge, plus a business centre providing 24-hour support services. The restaurant has a magnificent terrace. Meeting rooms for up to 2,000. *EXECUTIVE FLOOR ONLY

This charming and elegant conversion of four Edwardian town houses combines original features with modern amenities including spacious guestrooms, presidential and junior suites, and two executive floors that have been specifically redesigned to accommodate business travellers. The lobby and hallways are trimmed in rich mahogany wood panelling accented with textured earth tone wall coverings. Meeting rooms featuring panoramic views and installations are ultra modern. Cross the street to restaurant Bronte for superb contemporary cuisine. Rated by Condé Nast Traveller as one of the top hotels in North America. *WI-FI

A massive space-age edifice in an ideal downtown business location, with direct access to the Stock Exchange and World Trade Centre. A definite plus is having the city’s only revolving rooftop restaurant, Tour de Ville, done up in deep blues and plenty of mirrors, with bistro Chez Antoine extending the choice. Pleasant, well- equipped guest rooms and great facilities make this a classic business choice, with Business Class bonuses like floor-to- ceiling windows with some of the best views in the city, plus complimentary breakfast in the private lounge. Meeting rooms for up to 1,000.
