This is a cultural gem. Built in the early 1960’s the theatre has been refurbished to have a seating capacity of 2,800 people but the most distant row of seats is still only 6o feet from the stage. The circular stage can rotate a full 360 degrees. Fifteen aisles give the seating chart a wagon wheel appearance but allow performers to keep the audience involved in the show by venturing up the 'spokes’. The theatre hosts a variety of performances, including Broadway musicals, stand-up comedians, as well as pop, country , soul, R&B and jazz musicians.

[open]ed in 1990, this was the concept of George P. Mitchell and his wife Cynthia. Every March to October, the Pavilion hosts roughly 75 events, ranging from Britney Spears concerts to Hitchcock film screenings to performances by the Houston symphony. After a renovation, the Pavilion now has more than 16,000 seats, including 3,000 covered by a fabric roof and 12,00o more on the lovely lawn.

Downtown rock venue the Engine Room hosts sold-out shows for some of the hottest nationally touring acts, while showcasing the best and most diverse of Houston’s local bands as well. Paired with the club’s high quality sound system, the cavernous main room allows for great acoustics and sound dispersal. True to its [name], the Engine Room has an industrial, working man’s appeal. Good music and affordable drinks, not frills, have fueled the club’s popularity. A fully stocked bar flanks one side of the club, with a wide dance area in the center and tables and chairs along the other side. A separate room in the rear offers pool tables, video games and booth seating.
