Houston / Accommodation

An old-school 'ice cube’ glass tower with a nine-story atrium maintains all the style and charm of its early days while providing extensive conference facilities updated with the latest in AV geekery – including support staff for audio-visual equipment. Bar patrons are segregated: loud fans watch big screens in Players Sports Bar and the rest drink in the tasteful Tiffany Rose Lounge. Contemporary Southwest might not seem the right cuisine for a restaurant called Deco, unless one is accustomed to the reckless cross-cultural combinations common in Houston. In any case, the food and the ambiance are lovely, and it comes together nicely for Sunday jazz brunch. Please note that the hotel may re-emerge as the Marriott Westchase – it’s a Marriott property but not flying the flag yet.

This extended stay hotel offers business travellers an early complimentary breakfast – there is no restaurant on site, but in-room coffeemakers, wet bar, and microwaves enable hot snacks and a higher level of junk food noshing. Forty- seven of the suites are 'Taking Care of Business’ accommodations with extra office space, double phone lines, and other added touches for officing on the road. Amerisuites provides up to 1,200 square feet of meeting space. If necessary, staff will help arrange for dry erase boards, projectors, sound equipment, or other needs. Located near Bush Intercontinental Airport, The Woodlands and north Houston office parks.

These accommodations recently made the change from Hawthorn Inn to Comfort Inn in a transition affecting little more than the marquee. Solid, simple service is still the benchmark and what the hotel lacks in bedtime mints and fluffy bathrobes it more than makes up for with ample free parking and clean, comfortable rooms for cheap. High-speed internet access is available in most rooms. All guest enjoy a complete (ie, more than coffee and muffins) breakfast, gratis, and many rooms include microwaves and mini-fridges.
