Denver / Accommodation / Good Value

The Comfort Inn is almost like staying at Denver’s oldest and classiest hotel only thriftier. A limited-service hotel, it shares ownership and management with the venerable Brown Palace Hotel; next door and connected by a second-storey skybridge. Guests can stroll over to 'The Brown’ without going outdoors, and use all of its amenities, including the concierge service. Guests also have signing privileged at all the restaurants and bars at the Brown Palace. Smart travellers can save on their rooms and celebrate their frugality by spending what they’ve saved on a meal at one of the Brown Palace’s fine restaurants.

Courtyard is Marriott’s limited-service brand, but this hotel is far from limited. First and foremost is its location – on downtown’s bustling 16th Street Mall. The hotel is in a renovated historic building above Rialto, a popular bar and restaurant that offers room service to hotel guests during dinner hours (though not open for breakfast.) The hotel has a small, indoor lap pool, a hot tub and spa. Guest rooms have high-speed internet and voice mail.

This limited-service hotel is convenient to I-25 and within 10 miles of the DTC, Inverness and Meridian business parks. Suites and some rooms have refrigerators and microwave ovens. The hotel has an indoor/outdoor pool and whirlpool, and a laundry. Guests get free morning coffee in their rooms, or can have a complimentary continental breakfast. The hotel offers discounts for guests who stay more than five nights. Plenty of free parking makes the Drury a good choice for business people on a budget who will be travelling around the area by car.

The Executive Tower guarantees that it has the lowest room prices in the downtown. Standard rooms provide a choice of a king size bed or two double beds. Only the larger and more expensive premier guest rooms provide coffeemakers, hairdryers, or irons and ironing boards. The hotel occupies 16 floors in a 30-storey building across the street form the Denver Centre for Performing Arts. Guests have access to an indoor lap pool, tennis court and sundeck. The hotel features 21 meeting rooms, including two recently refurbished ballrooms. Close to the conventions centre, this older hotel is a good choice for a traveller on a budget.

This Holiday Inn is the closest hotel to Denver’s convention centre. Guest rooms in the 29-storey building are spacious, and include high-speed internet. The hotel has a heated, outdoor pool and a rooftop sundeck. For $10, guests can access a nearby fitness club. The hotel has 8,000 square feet of meeting space divided among nine rooms. Guests with cars should be aware that this hotel may have the best, most convenient parking facility of any downtown hotel.
