This elegant, 17-storey, business hotel is a convenient six-block walk to Denver’s 16th Street pedestrian mall, and accessible to the entire downtown. All suites include a small kitchen, and most are separate from the bedroom while some are combined bedrooms and kitchenettes. The hotel provides free parking, as well as a free van service within a five-mile radius from 7am to 11pm. The upscale restaurant offers continental cuisine, and the lounge features some of Denver best live jazz from Thursday to Saturday. The hotel provides two meeting rooms for up to 40 people. *free pass to health club next door

A deluxe hotel that goes the extra distance to make guests feel at home, the front desk even loans out gold fish to keep guests company, and people mingle in the lobby for coffee in the mornings and for complimentary wine every evening. Guest rooms are decorated in bold art deco patterns of reds, rich creams and buttery yellows, and special 'Tall Rooms’ are outfitted with extra-long beds and heightened showerheads. All rooms have high-speed internet access and the lobby has wireless Internet. The hotel’s spa is one of the best in the Rockies. Panzano serves some of the city’s finest contemporary northern Italian cuisine.

Opposite the Denver Centre of Performing Arts and a short walk to the convention centre, Hotel Teatro is in the heart of Denver’s downtown. The building was built in 1911 and restored into a hotel in 1997. The rooms are elegantly detailed, with Indonesian sandstone foyers, cherry wood armoires, down comforters, marble countertops, and deep soaking tubs. Every room is fully equipped for business, and features complimentary high-speed internet access. Dining options are Jou Jou, a casual American bistro and bar, and Kevin Taylor, which serves continental cuisine, and both are among Denver’s best. Two meeting rooms can accommodate groups of up to 100.

If you’re doing business in the southern part of Denver but find the DTC area a bit sterile, you should consider the Loew’s. This 11-storey hotel (nick[name]d the Darth Vader building) is equidistant to downtown and DTC, very accessible to I-25, and close to the shops, restaurants and nightlife of Cherry Creek. The hotel provides a free shuttle service within a few miles, but you’ll probably want a car. All rooms have high- speed internet access and guests have access to a nearby fitness club. The 5,000 square feet of meeting space features windows and natural light. The Tuscany restaurant serves fine northern Italian cuisine in a museum-like atmosphere.

The Queen Anne is the closest bed and breakfast to downtown and caters to business travellers. Two side-by-side Victorian houses (1879 and 1886) were renovated and reopened as a B&B in 1987. Each guest room is unique and decorated with antiques and has a private bath and telephone. Seven rooms feature oversized, jetted tubs, and one includes a rooftop hot tub. A full, hot breakfast and evening sherry and wine reception are included. The hotel has one computer equipped with high-speed internet access in its common area. The inn is an easy walk to downtown and offers a quiet alternative to the big hotels.
