The booty-shaking club of choice for the trendy crowd. Often more silicone on display here than in the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders’ locker room. It’s a place where attitude can apparently never be more over the top, from the statement you make when you arrive in daddy’s hot wheels or your $700 pair of jeans.

Low-key doesn’t always imply half-empty. Cosmo’s is strictly one of Dallas’ coolest bars, where interesting people from all walks of life – business suits to persons of piercing – all hunker down over martinis and cosmopolitans among the cluster of chairs and tables or perhaps on the comfy sofas. Non-smokers take note: it’s a popular cigar bar.

The live music here is just the bonus. A well-known, darkened pub-like joint with plenty of character, the Elbow Room gives patrons room to breathe. And it’s one of the few refuges left where there’s no charge to play shuffleboard or darts.

If it’s a must-see touring music act, covering everything from Melissa Etheridge to Crystal Method and regional Texas rockers and alt-country twangers, then the Tea Room has it. What’s cool is you might accidentally stumble on a soon- to-be-superstar in the club’s smaller listening room, adjacent to the 600- capacity main ballroom.

It’s 1am. Now where’s the party? Try the Lizard Lounge, which stays [open] until 4am. This techno-rave nightclub keeps the beats going until the last dancers beg for mercy under the spell of the two house DJs. Supermodels and sports stars mingle here with the lucky locals.
