Don’t let the stadium seating fool you. This is no Mega-Giganto Plex American film behemoth. It has eight screens for films – some big studio, some not – that make you think while gulping down that bucket of Coke. However, what’s really cool is the food served at the adjacent Ajelika Café, including the likes of risotto cakes or Portobello mushrooms, which you can bring with you into the theatre.

A favourite for those looking for films that do not aim for the common denominator, in a funky part of town where you can find a few cool restaurants and bars nearby. Three screens showing art and foreign film fare.

This is your real big-screen test, watching a 79-by-60 foot screen showing panoramic nature films or invigorating theatrical presentations such as Stomp! in a theatre setting so real you might want to join in the dance or believe you can sniff the air of the rainforest you are investigating. Some films can make patrons dizzy, so just look away for a few seconds if that parachute jump scene is too much to bear.
