Muscat / Accommodation

The second-oldest hotel in Muscat and as such one of the best settings at the heart of the Ruwi district with easy access to all the business and tourist attractions, along with stunning views from the hotel bar. A bit shabby around the edges, but for those after a no-frills stay it can’t be beaten. Service throughout the hotel is top class, and this and the extensive conferencing facilities attracts a number of big events to the establishment.

Great location and value for money but that is about it. The apartments are just a five-minute drive from the city’s main business area and come with fully equipped kitchens, which would be perfect for those in town for a while who don’t want to run up a huge hotel bill. Good value for what you get but the lack of amenities and business facilities do count against it for many travellers.

Just 25 minutes from the airport and a short walk from the heart of the Qurum entertainment area, these units come well-equipped within and have a number of useful amenities at hand in the vicinity.

When it comes to rooms with a view in Muscat the Crowne Plaza cannot be beaten. Set atop a cliff overlooking Al Qurm town, the hotel is surrounded by acres of landscaped gardens and provides direct access to one of the most luxurious beaches in the country. The hotel was recently refurbished and now boasts yet more facilities in contemporary designs. From the worldclass cuisine on offer—the Iranian restaurant comes highly recommended— to the state-of-the-art rooms, the hotel can offer business and pleasure visitors equal measures of pampering.

Proximity to the Seeb International Airport makes Golden Tulip Seeb an ideal choice. It’s also the nearest hotel to the Oman International Convention Centre. All its residents have access to private beach facilities, which is just across the road, and entry to the Oman Automobile Club, which has go-karts and an 18-hole golf course just a couple of minutes’ drive from the hotel. After changing its moniker from Novotel to Golden Tulip, the hotel has recently undergone renovation, with rooms now having wide balconies that provide either a mountain view or distant sea view. Business facilities are standard, with the Al Hoseen Ballroom capable of hosting 500 people. The Rooftop Club offers lively entertainment with exotic belly dancing.
