Cairo / Nightlife / Club

Tucked in an alley near chaotic Midan Tahrir, After Eight hosts a regular line-up of jazz, blues and Egyptian bands. Try to catch the excellent Wust Al Balad. Between acts, the DJ plays the latest imports. The minimum charge is £3.60. A choice place for a fun night with friends.

Jazz and blues bands share the space with electronic groups and the occasional soft-rock cover band. It’s smoky, dark and cramped, but drinks are reasonably priced and the club attracts a fun mix of people. There is a £2.70 minimum charge.

This unprepossessing space in the Nile Hilton has been transformed into a futurefetishist’s dream of, well, latex. Choosy bouncers and expensive drinks guarantee an air of exclusivity—some nights only couples are admitted. Watch Cairo’s rich young darlings dancing to ear-splitting DJ sets at Cairo’s most popular dance club.

Once Cairo’s premier hangout, Morocco has since calmed down. Lounge in low, cushioned seating and indulge in mezze and Moroccan dishes. Later it transforms into a club playing international hits. Drinks can be expensive, but there’s no minimum charge. River views and the relaxed ambience make for a classy night out.
