Cairo / Nightlife / Bar / Club

Brass fixtures and oak woodwork combine to create a relaxed atmosphere, reinforced by the presence of a dart board. The entrance is discreet, the door staff imposing, but the clientele is not at all exclusive. The regular karaoke nights (Wednesdays 10pm) attract an enthusiastic mix of Egyptians and foreigners.

Deals’ clientele is a little younger and rowdier than Pub 28’s. Cramped and loud, but always jovial. The surprisingly good food includes salads and lighter fare. A good place to watch the football match and make a few new friends, Deal’s can fill up quickly on Thursday and Friday nights.

Koreana’s young and lively atmosphere makes it one of Maadi’s most popular bars. Play some pool and mingle with a mix of expats and Egyptians.

Popular among foreigners, Pub 28 is a small, dimly-lit bar in the middle of Zamalek. The music is often excessively loud, but the beer is reasonably priced and the crowd is friendly. The menu contains soso steak, pasta and other basic pub fare.

This is a favourite expat hang-out. The Spanish-style interior is awash with red light, creating a relaxed and casual atmosphere. As speakers emit the latest club music, bartenders keep the beer flowing freely and peanut dishes stocked.
