Warsaw / Accommodation

Duval offers just four apartments, each decorated in a different style. The Japanese room, the Polish chamber, the Retro room and the Glass room are all located in a 15th century mansion in the heart of Warsaw’s Old Town. A classy place to stay, there’s a tea room in the basement, an Italian restaurant on the first floor and a café on the second.

With its competitive prices and convenient location 800 metres from the airport, the Gromada is a good bet for the budget businessman. It also boasts the largest hotel conference centre in town, with 14 different meeting rooms ranging in size from intimate small group venues to huge rooms capable of accommodating several thousand people.

Maybe not the most adventurous choice, but a pretty solid bet nonetheless. This member of the Holiday Inn chain is located in an ideal spot in the centre of the business district, just across the street from the Palace of Culture and Science. But its location has one drawback as, on the opposite side of the street, the new Golden Terraces complex is currently under construction, which might make the place a little on the noisy side. But with the new-build scheduled for completion in 2006, this shouldn’t be a problem for long.

This three-star venue is for anyone who wants to get away from all the noise and brashness of the city and settle back into more salubrious surroundings. Situated near the serene Lazienki Park, guests can enjoy an evening stroll around the lake before returning to the hotel for a meal of classic Polish cuisine. Unfortunately the decor leaves a little to be desired and the rooms could be bigger. Belwederski also provides everything for the business traveller, including a fully equipped conference hall with space to seat up to 100.

With such an ideal location in the midst of all the city’s attractions, it’s surprising Hotel Harenda doesn’t charge its guests rather more than it does. With the Old Town just a stroll down the street, the National Theatre and Zacheta Gallery right across the square and the shops of ul. Nowy Swiat a couple of blocks away, no hotel is better placed. Harenda’s prices are low because it doesn’t offer luxury and you have to pay extra for additions such as breakfast. But with its popular club venue Piwnica pod Harenda (which regularly plays host to cabaret and jazz evenings), cable TV in all rooms and fully equipped bathrooms, Harenda remains an excellent choice.
