This tiny French café tries hard to become a poseur’s paradise at night and, thankfully, fails. Instead it’s an informal, slightly shabby bar with a restless DJ operating a turntable tinier than a cropped crepe.

[open]ed by Swedes, run by Lithuanians, with western European DJs on Fridays and live Russian and Baltic bands on Saturdays, Gravity is truly multinational. The club is reached through a long tunnel, making it feel like a top-secret missile silo.

The Old Town’s most religious sites tower over the entrance to Iki Ausros, the only real cocktail bar in town. Very low-key lighting and a long, long bar.

Entering this nightclub feels like embracing a brave new underground world. Popular for being the location of a reality TV show, Mambo has other events too, like big name foreign DJs and a summertime g-string competition.

Never mind the cocktails. The five-star view is what you come to the 22nd floor of the Reval Hotel Lietuva for. It’s a good place to get your bearings in the city, day or night.
