Vilnius / Entertainment

This mammoth shopping mall sports an ice rink encircled by restaurants, a cinema showing English-language movies, a bowling alley and lots and lots of shops.

Vilnius’ multiplex, with eight screens showing mostly mainstream Hollywood movies in original version and the odd continental or art-house surprise, is a quick cab ride from the Old Town.

The sheer variety at the Grand Casino complex is designed to keep you there all night. And with the 40 cocktails at the sophisticated Hawaii bar available around the clock, who’d want to leave? One of Vilnius’ best restaurants, Tokyo, and a nightclub are here too.

Lithuanians love the blues and adore jazz, but venues indulging in both have had a surprisingly short lifespan in the past. This one should have a different fate, however, as the music is sparkling and improvisational.

You can’t miss this iron-clad riverside building with its massive chandeliers and walkways visible through the giant window panes. Performances vary and the respectable repertoire takes no risks, but this is the place to rub shoulders with the Lithuanian elite.
