Casino Cosmopol is the only casino in Stockholm, with two restaurants, four bars and several tables for roulette, black jack, punto banco and stud poker. The minimum age is 20 and it’s [open] Monday- Friday 1pm-5am.

This is the biggest cinema in Stockholm, and with 14 screens and 70 screenings a day, there should be something on to suit every taste.

Filmstaden Soder is in the Soderhallarna shopping centre, close to its competitor Biopalatset. The proximity of these two, and the subway connecting them, make this area a real mecca for movie lovers.

It’s a shame for the non-Swedish-speaking tourist that all theatres and musicals in Stockholm are in Swedish, but opera works whatever the language. The Kungliga Operan building itself, which dates from 1752, is a must-see, and there’s a quality billing of ballet and opera throughout the [year].

Mosebacke is a lovely venue in the heights of Sodermalm. In summer, take in the views over a drink on the terrace before heading inside where there’s a bar, restaurant and several small stages for live music.
