Thai chef Thiou is a fashionista favourite, and her third spot is perfectly located for the ladies who lunch and a crowd of hungry television folk in the evenings. The service is discreet and professional, the atmosphere upbeat and the food always first-rate. The steamed Scottish salmon red curry and the duck tartare with its Thai mayonnaise—both served with the crisp homemade chips—offer a wealth of subtle Asian flavours.

A good place for solo eating; help yourself to sushi from the conveyor belt while checking out the talent on the other side of the room. Laurent Taieb’s second sushi venue in the Kenzo building right underneath his other new baby, Kong, is a surreally sci-fi experience designed by Andrée Putman with gleaming white decor, high stools and 65 computer screens offering internet, email and in-house flirting facilities.
