Paris / Accommodation

Mixing studios for one or two people and two-room apartments for up to four, all with well-equipped kitchens, this member of a well-established chain of apartment-hotels is particularly practical for those wishing to be in close proximity to La Defense business district. There are three conference rooms, a private indoor car park and a 24-hour reception desk

[name]d after the King of England, at a time when France was good friends with her neighbouring island, the George V is a polished palace of a hotel frequented by superstars and tycoons. As a result of this high-rolling clientele, the eight conference rooms, ballroom and business centre are equipped to meet their every need. Sadly the Four Seasons renovation replaced the original art deco furnishings with more conventional neo-Louis XV, but the comfort is undeniably lavish and the flowers by Jeff Leatham are astonishing.

The gleaming new Hilton is aimed squarely at the international business traveller. It offers excellent conference facilities, albeit with nothing too much that says it’s in Paris. Designed by Alexandre Danan and Karine Mazeau, the feel is modern art deco with lots of ebony, granite and wrought iron. Seven modular meeting rooms and two ballrooms have been conceived with major league players in mind and offer outstanding acoustic quality. All rooms are equipped with personal telephone numbers, phone/fax with integrated mailbox, high-speed internet access and satellite television.

If you have business at the Cité des Sciences this Holiday Inn is conveniently situated. Typically Parisian it ain’t, but it has 17 air-conditioned conference rooms equipped with multi-media equipment and offers the standard of service you would expect from an international hotel. Does what is says on the tin type place.

Although the Second Empire facade is rather grand, once inside this is pure Holiday Inn, meaning no-risk neutral decor, bland furnishings and an efficient level of services. Bedrooms though are generally well-sized, there’s a pleasant courtyard garden and in spite of the ordinariness of the place, nothing can detract from the superior conference facilities with a choice of 10 meetings room that hold up to 350 delegates. Republique is also a convenient central location for those who need to move easily about town.
