Nicosia / Dining / Other

Aegeo is the Greek word for Aegean, and this taverna in the heart of old Nicosia, set in a century old house, has a unique ambience. It serves a wide variety of innovative Cypriot cooking and the meze comes with a difference – you choose the dishes.

Tasty Syrian dishes served in a Middle East atmosphere. Choice of meze or a la carte, a range of grills, with some spectacular Middle East specialities. Relaxed atmosphere, and attentive staff.

Family run and much favoured by locals the speciality here is meze, a tapas style of eating, with dozens of small dishes offering all the flavours of Cyprus. In the summer months customers are served outside in a courtyard decorated as a traditional Cypriot square. No menus here – just order the number of mezes required, and the drinks.

Lively, informal, with the freshest of fresh fish making for excellent fish meze. Waiters are very attentive, and amusing while the clientele consists mainly of local residents. Garden dining in summertime, when the restaurant is also open for Sunday lunch.

The owner makes early morning trips to the market to claim the best of the available fish from the various harbours of the island. Choose from the fish display, or have a fish meze. Excellent wine list. Friendly, attentive service.
