Nice / Dining / Italian

This small ristorante in the old town of Nice has a Piedmontese/Ligurian accent. Fried ravioli, penne with red mullet, stuffed veal, pasta with pungent shards of white Alba truffles plus classic dishes from the heart of Nice are the order of the day. After a few glasses of Dolcetto, Barbaresco or Chardonnay Graffagno, join Marie-Luce Benguigui in canzonettas and arias from Italian operas. Reservations a must as there are only about 20 places. Closed Sundays.

Warm and welcoming, this large trattoria with arches and wall frescos is an ode to the charm of Amalfi and Capri. The atmosphere is traditional and dishes are much the same. Seafood is excellent as is the gnocci, risotto and tiramisu and there is an excellent range of Provencal and Italian wines to choose from. Daily specials are between 9 – 11 (euros), business lunches are about 19 (euros) and a Grand Italia menu is 28. Closed on Mondays in low-season, and throughout July
