The Hard Rock Café formula finally hit Moscow in 2004, a mere 20 years after the T-shirts had been on sale, making this possibly the longest known teaser campaign in the history of advertising. This HRC is the largest in Europe.

Americans might find this worth a visit, merely for the surrealistic experience of seeing a genuine aluminum-faced, chrome-decorated 50s-style American diner trailer in Moscow. The food is pretty authentic and the portions are correctly immense, the shakes are thick and you really can ask for your eggs over easy.

Built as a hunting lodge, Tsarskaya Okhota, or Tsar’s hunt, is located 9kms from Moscow in the middle of what was once a hunting reserve but is now the city’s most exclusive suburban neighborhood, Zhukovka. Many top officials, including former president Boris Yeltsin and his successor Vladimir Putin, have their residences in the vicinity, securing Tsarskaya Okhota’s position as the place to take foreign dignitaries to. The selection of traditional Russian meat and poultry dishes is among the best in town, so make sure to book a seat in advance.
