Manchester / Nightlife / Bar

One of the country’s fi rst designer café-bars, Dry has been a home from home for the city’s glitterati for over a decade. Started by the people behind Factory Records, it remains a hangout for Manchester’s hip, happening and beautiful people. The entertainment is varied, from live band nights to stomping old-school house DJs—so call ahead to fi nd out what’s on. It also serves a great selection of light snacks.

This much-loved 18th-century pub was moved following the Arndale Centre bombing in 1996, but no amount of shifting can change its jovial atmosphere. Tolkienesque, it has an old-world charm and it serves a great selection of ales, pies and the kind of fare you’d expect in an 18th-century hostelry.
