Set in the heart of Manchester’s ‘curry mile,’ Shere Khan is probably the city’s finest Indian restaurant. To call it contemporary Indian would be going too far; what is served is sturdy, bold and well-spiced northern Indian cuisine. Coriander-infused lamb stewed on the bone, a Madras with bite and hints of marjoram and saffron, and moist biryani speckled with spices, all stand out. Shere Khan is also well-known for its spinach dishes. A wide selection of Indian beers is also available on tap to soothe the palate. The service is impeccable. There is another branch of Shere Khan in the Trafford Centre.
