Billed as Manchester’s first city centre five-star hotel, the Radisson Edwardian has swiftly gained a reputation for its excellent service and quite staggeringly beautiful aesthetic. The hotel bar, a symphony of red, black and white that is as opulent as it gets, is one of Manchester’s finest cocktail lounges. The rooms here are not as large as the size of the external structure would suggest, but the beds are big and comfortable, and cutting-edge visual and audio technology comes as standard.

Manchester’s first ever five-star hotel, The Lowry is technically situated in Sal-ford, but with an addition of a modern-ist bridge specifically designed for the hotel, the city centre really is on your doorstep. A member of the Rocco Forte Group, it exhibits all of the traits that have made this chain so good. Rooms are huge and appointed to the highest standards. The bar and restaurant are also excellent and works by local artists lend the vast building an air of intimacy. The Lowry is as good as it gets.
