Malmo / Accommodation / Classic

Located on Norra Vallgatan just opposite Centralstationen, the Elite Savoy is Malmö’s most exclusive hotel. Its bright and beautiful lobby is just the start. All rooms are tastefully designed, combining modern and classical features to make them feel both spacious and intimate. The modern French steakhouse Café Rasoir opened in the Savoy in October 2004, and every gourmet in Malmö is watching the play-off between this new restaurant and the multi award-winning Sturehof restaurant just around the corner.

As central as can be, standing on the pedestrian street connecting Stortorget and Gustav Adolfs Torg, is this beautiful turn-of-the-century hotel, a refuge for those who feel that today’s minimalist design has gone too far. Here the fairly small rooms are decorated with antique and period furniture, chandeliers and hand-woven carpets.

A classic 19th-century haven in the midst of Stortoget’s lively nightlife, the Scandic Kramer has been carefully preserved with a touch of rustic luxury in the rooms and suites. The restaurant Kramer Gastronomi & Bar is fi rst class and very elegant, and serves a balanced mix of traditional Swedish foods and south European cuisine, including a special three-course Kramer menu that varies with the seasons. The robust bar, with its heavy leather armchairs, is the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of cognac and a good cigar.

As you might guess from the [name], this hotel is situated close to the Malmö Opera and music theatre. Inspired by French architecture, it has parquet fl oors and classic Swedish interior design from the 50s. The dining hall and the corridor on the fi rst fl oor function as an art gallery for new and upcoming artists. Only light dishes, like pies and sandwiches are available, but this isn’t a problem as there are a great many good restaurants just a few minutes walk away.
