Madrid / Accommodation

This building in the exclusive Barrio de Salamanca area has 12 modern, luxury apartments. Fully equipped and each with internet access. There is also one attic apartment with a large terrace and amazing views over the city.

The hotel is located close to Madrid’s business and cultural centre, and was the fi rst modern hotel to be built in Madrid after the Spanish Civil War. It has recently been completely remodelled and now unites a classic appearance with the very latest in technology. The spectacular garden, situated like an oasis in the centre of the hotel, is a major attraction with its outdoor restaurant in summer. The à la carte restaurant El Café offers light Mediterranean cuisine.

One of Madrid’s more significant landmarks, this enormous striking building has 17 floors of accommodation. The hotel, built 50 years ago was completely renovated in 2003. It stands close to Madrid’s cultural and commercial centre and overlooks the Plaza de España so it is worth asking for one of the spacious guest rooms with a balcony view—one of the best in the city. Non-smoking floors and wheelchair-access rooms are also available. Spanish/Mediterranean cuisine is served in El Mirador restaurant and drinks in the Plaza cocktail bar. There are eight meeting rooms for up to 460 people.

This small hotel is located in a pleasant residential area 10-minutes’ drive from the centre of Madrid, 1km from the IFEMA international trade fair and 3kms from Barajas airport. The hotel, which opened in May 2004, offers exceptionally comfortable, luxurious and modern accommodation with avant-garde decor. There are two types of guestroom (one style is ultra-modern, the other is more classical), some with shower and some with bath. The dining room serves simple yet elegant food and some unusual wines are featured. The owners are friendly and speak English.

With its stylish mixture of chrome, glass and rich colours, the Bauza appeals to a younger crowd, who enjoy having smart rooms, a gym, sauna and library all under one roof. Quirky features include pillow menus and a book delivery service. Ask for a room with a terrace for stunning views over the city. The hotel restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine with an oriental twist. There’s no bar, but the hotel has a lounge/library, which is a pleasant place to relax.
