Some time in 2006 a modern casino will [open] at Lisbon’s Parque das Nações. Until then, however, you will have to travel half an hour to the one in Estoril, which is the biggest in Europe, if you wish to treat your clients to a glamorous dinner and a show. Features of the casino include a gambling hall with some 1,200 slot machines, traditional games such as roulette, live music, several bars and restaurants, an art gallery and a discotheque.

All kinds of concerts, shows and exhibitions are on at the Belém Cultural Centre. From 27th February-2nd March 2006, for example, there is Guitarmania, an international classical guitar festival.

Watch out for events in the Coliseu dos Recreios theatre, for they are often international concerts, musicals or operas, for which no understanding of Portuguese is required. In January 2006, for example, the original-language version of Miss Saigon will be staged.
