On the top floor of an apartment building high above the city—Besince Kat actually means 5th floor—this place is a wee bit hard to find. But it’s well worth persevering as the view is fantastic, the bar well stocked and there’s an excellent menu too.

A continental café cum bar that wouldn’t be out of place in a Parisian neighbourhood, Kaktus is a popular local haunt and the perfect place to take a break from shopping on Istiklal Caddesi for a coffee or a cool beer.

An English theme pub complete with beer mats and dark wooden bar—but no British beer—this is the spot for homesick expats to drown their sorrows. Must be a lot around, as there are now a dozen North Shields dotted all over town.

High above the rooftops the cool Nu Teras has stunning views, excellent cocktails and some tasty nibbles from resident chef Aysegul Talu. The perfect place for a summer sundowner, the only hitch being that it’s summer-only.

A throwback to the days when Beyoglu was home to the city’s large minority communities, Pano is a Greek-style taverna. Today, however, the clientele are local office workers quaffing glasses of wine and cool Efes while standing at long tables. There are also some tasty snacks available such as delicious stuffed mussels.
