Edinburgh / Accommodation / Good Value

If you need nothing more than a basic, cheap room in which to rest your head, then this Travelodge provides just the thing. There are TVs in the rooms and all have telephones with an external line. The basic bar-café does provide breakfast and evening meals during the week and is open until 11pm for residents. Otherwise, the very excellent café Plaisir du Chocolat on the High Street provides delicious continental-style breakfasts, and the vegetarian Banns Restaurant over the road is also thoroughly recommended.

This converted office block is definitely not the epitome of style. But being situated between Waverley Station and the Royal Mile does make it a convenient place to stay for the Old Town. This is a no-frills affair, although it does offer five conference rooms and a business centre. The bar is cozy and comfortable enough for an after-business or pre-adventure drink.
