Copenhagen / Accommodation / Good Value

Denmark’s first-ever five-star design hostel celebrated its grand opening in 2005. The Danhostel Copenhagen City is situated in the city’s oldest high-rise building, a 15-story office building sitting right on the waterfront. Design gurus GUBI (renowned for their rubbery modern chairs and furniture design for New York’s Museum of Modern Art) designed the interior. Internet facilities and café are available on-site.

Tidy, low-key but entirely hospitable, this English-style hotel located just behind the Royal Theatre is a good option for the business or short-stay traveller. It offers hospitality, courteous service and no-frills amenities at a price that’s hard to beat in Copenhagen. Centrally located and rarely overbooked.

Deluxe amenities at junior prices—this little sister of the palatial Hotel d’Angleterre offers similar amenities and a classic interior at a fraction of the price. Few spots rival the Sophie Amalie for location, near Amalienborg Palace and Kongens Nytorv.
