Although the fin de siècle style Grand Hotel is one of only a few places in the city to offer smokeless rooms, noise is the real pollution menace here. Vesterbro is one of the noisiest, most heavily trafficked spots in the city, but the location is comfortably central, within walking distance to Copenhagen Central station, Tivoli, Strøget and the Tycho Brahe Planetarium. With the new railway connection to the airport, Grand Hotel is only 8 minutes from Copenhagen airport and the Oresund bridge.

After more than a century in business, this hotel on Kongens Nytorv is still the most fashionable [address] in town. With picture-postcard views of the Royal Theatre, Magasin department store and Kongens Nytorv, the Hotel d’Angleterre’s reputation as a five-star service hotel is equally top-notch. Attractions include in-house salon and florist, Lotte Arndal’s first-class gym and spa and the recently renovated four-star Restaurant d’Angleterre.

Little niceties add up to major luxury at the centrally located Hotel Kong Frederik—with a florist, hairdresser and concierge service to boot. Consider dining in the hotel’s new brasserie-style restaurant, Le Coq Rouge, or plan a reception in the scenic Queen’s Garden Atrium. Four salons are available for business meetings and the hotel can also help you arrange multiple-user internet access and other conference logistics. Contact the hotel’s sales department for assistance before you travel.

This four-star hotel, located right across the street from the Town Hall Square, offers plenty of hustle and bustle for travellers who aren’t afraid of human traffic. Amenities are first class, however. Relax and escape with a deep-tissue or craniosacral massage from the hotel’s in-house masseuse, or enjoy a cocktail at the hotel’s Brasserie on the Square restaurant.

Located across the street from Amalienborg Palace, the elegantly sumptuous Hotel Phoenix caters to the discriminating traveller. It’s also just a five-minute walk from the recently re-landscaped Kongens Nytorv and Nyhavn harbour. The Phoenix boasts Louis XVI-inspired furnishings with Jacuzzi, fax and air-conditioning in its executive suites.
