Cologne / Dining

A trendy restaurant in a busy shopping and business area of Cologne’s Innenstadt, this sushi bar is popular at lunchtime with young professionals looking for tasty food. Sushi, negri and maki are the main dishes, all freshly prepared by up to three dedicated chefs. The food is clean, fresh and good value for the money.

This wonderfully designed restaurant from Mario di Biase offers daily menu specials. Here you’ll find more than just the usual duck breast, carpaccio or sole – take for example the octopus salad with celery, very unusual. Pasta and vegetables are prepared masterfully and many classic dishes stand out because of their perfect presentation. A brilliant wine menu rounds off an authentic-Italian eating experience.

Here you will fi nd the full Japanese programme, and the chefs ceremoniously cut and cook the food on large hot-plate style Teppanyaki tables. The restaurant is well known within the Japanese business community because they know they can fi nd a true Japanese ambience here. The menu is comprised of sushi, tempura, shellfi sh, roast beef and fi sh. Ingredients are 100% fresh and served with a number of sauces – everything is prepared, cooked and served right at your table.

Situated in a chic ‘altbau’ (old) building with large windows, Fischemanns serves Mediterranean cuisine with an Asian infl uence. The menu is dominated by fi sh and meat, but a daily menu of special offers lets you create your own three-course meal for around 22 euros. Trendy waiters and sleek interior design make this one of Cologne’s in-places to eat.

Perfectly located for passing business people or tourists on an excursion to the Dom, this is Cologne’s best-known brewery. Traditional food is served in a down-to-earth atmosphere, the drink is Kölsch and the noise is loud. The service here is original Cologne, which means they’ll be as direct as they can be. Don’t expect special treatment, but do be prepared to be talked into having yet another Kölsch.
