With its smart leather sofas and wooden interior, Floyd’s is one of the swankiest bars in Cardiff and attracts trendy media types. Live music is played on Sunday evenings.

Newly renovated, Copas is a great place to start your evening with a good bottle of wine. Never too packed or too empty, and with fl oor to ceiling glass windows and minimalist decor, it has a sophisticated atmosphere.

A stylish and contemporary bar next to Cardiff’s Civic Centre, ‘Incogs’ is ideal for business lunches and after-work drinks. It can get a bit overrun with the neighbouring student population later in the evenings, but overall there is a nice ambience.

A classy bar situated on St Mary street, Life can be pricey but if you want to rub butch shoulders with the Welsh Rugby Team, this is the place to come. Although Liquid next door is owned by the same group, don’t venture over there, unless drunken, leery teenagers appeal.

No.10s is Cardiff’s answer to London’s more sophisticated bars. Entry costs £5 to £10 at the weekend, and on Saturdays a minimum age of 21 for females and 25 for males applies, keeping the students at bay. This is most certainly the place to be seen in the Welsh capital.
