Bosphorus enjoys a unique location in a glass walled building on its own pier, with exceptional views of the Bay. Come for the view, and the vast array of meze. Servings are substantial and although the food on the menu is largely meat oriented there are some good vegetarian options. The wine list is not as extensive as that of neighbouring restaurants on the Bay.

La Tasca is new to Cardiff’s dining scene, forming part of the new Brewery Quarter. Colourfully cushioned booths and modern art form the décor of this traditional Spanish restaurant. The extensive tapas menu has something for all tastes, and the food is fresh and authentic. As is usually the case, tapas dishes are traditionally small, but nevertheless great value for money. The paella Valenciana (paella rice with mixed seafood and chicken) is particularly good. Spanish music and Spanish speaking staff add to the authenticity and the warm and sociable atmosphere is addictive.

The lively and inviting Las Iguanas offers an eclectic mix of Brazilian and Mexican food. Sit in the colourfully decorated booths and soak up the atmosphere as you sip on a delicious cocktail or an authentic Brazilian cachaça (powerful sugar cane spirit). Portions are a little small and service can be a unpredictable, but on the whole it’s a good night out. Their special £7 two-course offer runs until 6.30pm in the week. In summer this is a great place to sit outside and watch the world go by.
