One of Budapest’s most highly regarded little restaurants, this place is so popular it is recommended you call well in advance to reserve your table—the restaurant very rarely experiences a slack period. Featuring an intelligent menu which is complimented by an extensive specials board, you’ll want to return to this great venue time and time again.

 

The Rivalda boasts an inspired menu blending contemporary European cuisine with local and Mediterranean ingredients, and an extensive, carefully conceived wine list offering the best Hungarian vintages. Choose between dining in the chic restaurant or the charming cobbled courtyard.

 

Located in a secluded spot next toVarosliget (City Park) lake, this restaurant is still only minutes from the busy city centre. Robinson’s influence comes from around the world, but its charm is uniquely Hungarian. The website boasts of numerous famous guests, including TV’s JR, Larry Hagman.

 

First a confession: Soul Café is this writer’s favourite Budapest restaurant. It offers great Mediterranean-style dining with a substantial hint of Moorish influence in the decor and background music. Excellent food, great value and highly recommended.

 

This trendy downtown restaurant with an eclectic menu features Hungarian and international cuisine topped off with its own dedicated sushi chef. Particularly popular with the expatriate crowd and upwardly mobile set, it’s a place to see and be seen, with great food, wine and service to compliment its cool crowd.
