Budapest / Dining

Part of the Gundel dynasty and situated in the world famous restaurant’s 100-year-old cellar. Less formal than the parent restaurant, but nonetheless a wonderful place offering exquisite food and an extensive wine list.

The perfect spot for a French-style restaurant, the Abszint Etterem is located on Andrassy ut, a street similar in design to the grand French boulevards. This place serves only the freshest of foods in a relaxed atmosphere, enhanced by some wonderful works of art and the occasional burst of accordion music.

The largest restaurant in the Castle District—and some would say a bit of a tourist trap—it’s built on three levels with a wine cellar dating back to the Ottoman period. The Arany Hordo Vendeglo is the ideal venue to share traditional Hungarian cuisine with up to 350 friends.

For a taste of sheer opulence, visit Budapest’s leading caviar restaurant. The restaurant has a 19th-century Russian bourgeois theme and boasts an intimate atmosphere. As well as caviar, it also specialises in traditional home-made Russian cuisine. Especially popular for business lunches and often frequented by local politicians and dignitaries.

One of Budapest’s most highly regarded little restaurants, this place is so popular it is recommended you call well in advance to reserve your table—the restaurant very rarely experiences a slack period. Featuring an intelligent menu which is complimented by an extensive specials board, you’ll want to return to this great venue time and time again.
